I only occasionally have puppies. My puppies are extremely special to me and I only want what is best for them. Many breeders are happy just to take your money and hand you the puppy (and if you're lucky a small bag of food) without a care for its future. I am not one of those breeders. All of my puppies are sold with a contract of sale. Contracts are put in place by reputable breeders wishing to protect the future well being of their puppies and the breed as a whole.
If you are interested in a puppy from me please email me in the first instance with some information about yourselves, your homelife, garden, working arrangements, and tell me what sort of life you can give one of my puppies and what research you have done into Chinese Cresteds. I have no problems with children providing they have been taught or you are prepared to teach them how to behave around dogs. It is important that you bring your children with you when you visit us so that I can see how they are with dogs. I would be most unlikely to agree to sell you a puppy if you have children under 5 years old or to full time workers who are out all day. I do not sell puppies to people who keep them kennelled outside or who keep their dogs in cages for a greater proportion of the day.
It is imperative that the whole household are in favour of taking a puppy and I do not sell puppies as suprise gifts for other family members or friends.
As my main requirements in a dog are intelligence and plenty of confidence my Crested's tend to be extremely hyperactive so If you're looking for a quiet little lap dog then one of my puppies will not be suitable for you. As with most breeds Crested's need plenty of socialisation and training to prevent them becoming nervous and whilst I do not expect all my puppies to be trained to competition standard I do expect my puppies to be given correct training, therefore before collecting your puppy I expect that you will have checked out and preferably booked into local training classes. It is advisable that you attend training classes for at least 12 months. I will assist if I can in finding training classes in your area. I also expect that you would have registered with your local Vet.
You are also requested where possible that you join the Tamarsh Internet Group to keep us informed of how your puppy is doing. The group is in place to provide life long support and the friendship of other owners of Tamarsh Bred dogs. If it is not possible for you to join the group I request that you keep in touch by phone or letter.
Please note that if I do not believe you are suitable for one of my puppies you won't get one however far you've travelled. My aim is place my puppies in the right homes first time. I am responsible for them being here, it's the least I can do for them.
There is an awful lot more to good dog breeding than playing happy families and my aim is to produce healthy dogs with sound temperaments that are good examples of the breed. With this in mind I only breed from dogs/bitches who are of good breed type and are sound in construction, movement and of course have excellent confident temperaments. I will not use nervous dogs or bitches in my breeding programme. I never do father/daughter, brother/sister, grandparent/grandchild or any other close relative matings at any time.
All breeding dogs/bitches will have been Eye Tested, Glaucoma Tested, DNA tested for prcd-PRA and PLL (unless status is known by parentage) Hip and Patella tested. Testing is the ONLY way to be sure our dogs are free from Hereditary diseases. The simple fact is if you don't test you don't know. Affecteds of any kind will not be bred from.
All my puppies are eye tested for congenital defects before 12 weeks of age, and also checked for congenital heart murmurs.
My own Lottie is proof that one should never assume our dogs are free from hereditary diseases. Both Lottie's parents and 3 of her litter mates were Glaucoma tested Clear. Lottie failed hers. You cannot tell by looking at her, the Glaucoma test was the only way to know. Imagine she had never been tested and been bred from. How many puppies may have ended up losing an eye or both eyes at some stage, as in fact she could herself. Could one such puppy have been yours? Ask yourself that question before buying a puppy from parents who have not been eye tested or before breeding your litter from untested parents.
All my puppies are reared in the house, are KC registered, Microchipped, Insured, Wormed and Vaccinated before leaving me. They will have had trips in the car and been used to all household noises and socialised with people and other dogs, cats, and birds. They will be accustomed to playing outdoors and have been well handled, bathed, groomed and where necessary used to the clippers.
If you are new to Chinese Cresteds I will give you instruction on grooming and skin care for your puppy.
All my puppies are reared on the BARF diet, which I strongly recommend is continued with. A full diet sheet and 2 weeks supply of food will be provided but it is important that you research the diet before collecting your puppy, there are many good books available from www.amazon.co.uk
All my puppies are sold on the strict understanding that they be returned to me if at any time during the dogs life they find themselves in need of rehoming. A refund on the purchase price is not given after 6 months of age.
All my puppies are sold with their registrations endorsed not for breeding and not for export. Breeding endorsements may be lifted at my discretion once they have been given a clear adult eye test certificate, a Glaucoma Clear certificate and had their hips/patellas checked by a veterinary surgeon. You must also confirm that any mates would also have been in the very least eye and glaucoma tested and the DNA status for prcd-PRA and PLL must be known either by testing or by parentage.
I strongly recommend that all dogs and bitches kept as pets only should be neutered. Contrarary to popular belief this will not make the dog fat or lazy, that is down to how you manage the dogs lifestyle.
Please note that in all instances you must be prepared to come and collect your puppy. I do not do motorway meet ups, nor will I ever deliver a puppy to a dog show. I do not sell puppies on breeding terms so please do not ask.
Overseas enquiries are welcome but you must be able to provide references from at least 2 other breeders, unless I already know you.
If after wading through all that you still feel you'd like a Tamarsh puppy please feel free to get in touch.
