Border Collies and Chinese Crested Dogs

About Me

Hi, I'm Dita Kilsby and I'd like to welcome you to my website. I suppose it really began in 1976 when I had my first Border Collie "Shep" for my birthday. I began showing in 1986 after giving up horses and wanting something else to occupy my mind.  Little did I know that some 22 years later I'd find myself back in the saddle.

The first show Border Collie was Altricia Moss of Tamarsh who gained her stud book number. The Tamarsh line itself started with Whenway Mighty Mouse, I bought his daughter Demelza in 1990 and every Tamarsh Border Collie in the show ring today is descended from her through her daughter Kizzy.

I've enjoyed some wonderful successes although it's often not been easy and I've mostly had to go it alone. People often think you're mad for keeping all these dogs, but they have given me a great deal of pleasure and not a day goes by when they don't make me laugh. I am qualified to award CC's in Border Collies and I'm a KC accredited breeder. After over 20 years of breeding many people have come back for the next dog, which I feel is great testament to my breeding and I am very proud of every Tamarsh Border Collie.

Sadly in 2006 I decided to give up breeding Border Collies and after losing Emma in 2008 I  just had Millie at home, however her daughter Flick has recently rejoined us.

After many years of watching them from afar, In 2003 Pippa, the first of my Chinese Crested dogs arrived. Little did I know what an impact she would make on my life. I adore her, so much so I had to have more. Two years later we imported Tick from France and bought Sassy from the last ever Blandora litter.

I feel honoured to have been given the opportunity to own some beautiful Cresteds from excellent blood lines to set me on my way. Thankyou to the breeders who have shown their belief in me and let me have these beautiful dogs. I will always do my best to make you proud of them.

Chinese Cresteds are a very intelligent and very active toy breed. They love to train and are well suited to Obedience or Agility, which we are currently concentrating on and if I ever get to grips with my Vertigo I hope to compete in Agility in the near future. I'm very keen to promote the intelligence and trainability of the breed. With this in mind I've worked hard at finding lines with the right temperaments for training. As with most breeds Chinese Crested temperaments vary a great deal.

I'm no longer driven by the need to compete and only attend a few shows a year,  so the dogs I have with me now are here because I enjoy their company, any competition successes are just an added bonus, they are still the same dogs at the end of the day.

What you won't see on my pages are lists of show results as to me this is not what my dogs are about. What you will see is a little insight into each of their characters and personality. Owning a dog should be fun, if you can't have fun with your dogs then why have them.
